KW Granite Club - Detroit Curling Club Exchange

Objective of this Website

This web site was created to archive material from the KW Granite Club - Detroit Curling Club Exchange.
There are a number of unidentified members in the pictures on the website. If you can identify anyone, please use the reference # (the number is inside question marks in place of the person's name - eg: ?#4?. ) and the exchange date (the date of the exchange is given with the pictures that have unidentified members) and email us using the email address in the contact us page.
Also we are looking for more pictures and stories from past exchanges. If the pictures are digital, please email them. If you just have photos, email us and we will work out some way to get them scanned.

Background of the Exchange

This curling exchange between clubs in Kitchener-Waterloo and Detroit began in 1917. Undeterred by wars, a depression and snowstorms, the exchange has been held each year ever since. There are not a lot of details about the early days of the exchange, but we do have some history.

Format of the Exchange

There are 2 parts to the exchange each year.
On the second weekend in November, Kitchener-Waterloo curlers venture to Detroit.

On the second or third weekend in March, Detroit curlers go to Kitchener-Waterloo.

This year marks the 93rd annual exchange.

The first half of this year's exchange was held in Detroit Nov 13-15, 2009.
Check out the activities at November 2009.
