  • The Granite Club hosted the 9th Annual Appealspiel (Jan. 29), a bonspiel open to everyone in order to raise money for the Hospice of Waterloo Region. The total raised was an impressive $14,800, a 30% increase over last year. Special thanks to our sponsors for the event, the Lions Club of Kitchener and Miller Thompson LLP. Also we would like to thank the Grainharvest Bread House for the donation of the breakfast and Davenport Catering for providing the lunch as well as all the prize donors, especially VIA Rail.
  • This year's Business Ladies Bonspiel (Jan. 8) had a Western flare. We had 24 teams from Owen Sound, Ayr, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Burlington, Halton, and Toronto. Congratulations to Team Green and Team Payton, both from Owen Sound, for placing first in their draws.
  • Oktoberfest Mixed Bonspiel (October 22/23) - Unlike past years when winners came from as far away as Ohio, or as close as our neighbours in Elmira, this year a team comprising Guelph and Waterloo residents captured the top prizes: Barry Marko and JoAnne Bryce, Lisa and Duncan McLean, Don and Fay Laird.
  • Our first annual Conestogo Cup (November 13) is now behind us, and even though we have to congratulate our opponents, Elmira for their victory, we still felt it was a successful inaugural event.
