2004-2005 Season Ontario Curling Association
Competitions
- Carrie Mellor and
Elaine Voisin, both curling out of Westmount, have advanced their teams
to the Regionals for the Women's Tankard on April 2.
- Curling out of
Westmount, Elaine Voisin, Tara Gray, Lisa McLean and Jess Retterath
won the B side for the Trophy competition. Elaine and her team won the
A Side of the Regionals and advance to the Provincial finals at the
Curling Club of Kingsville to be held March 23-26.
- Ron Mooibroek and
his mixed team advanced out of the B side of the Mixed Zones to the
Regionals at the Southampton Curling Club on March 12.
- Congratulations
to Kelley Reid-Mooibroek, Lori Schroeder, Lauri Infanti and Colleen
Hambly for advancing to the next round after winning the A side of the
Trophy Competition at the Granite Club on January 22nd.
- Congratulations
to Elaine Voisin , Tara Grey and Amber Gebhardt for qualifying through
the zone play downs.
- Congratulation
to Simon Barrick and his Bantam Boys team for winning the side B in
Zones.
- Well done Amanda
Zufich and her team for winning the Junior women side A zone play down.
- Wendy Simpson,
Ilse Hoffman, Lorna Allen and Glad O'Hara sought to defend their provincial
title this year. They came out as A side zone winners, however did not
advance past the Regional Masters competition.
Other Events
- Hearty congratulations
go to Norm Green, Carrie Speers, Len Cooper and Bill Baker who won the
CNIB Provincial Gold for the first time in K-W Granite history on Saturday
March 19th. They are coached by Wendy Simpson who has now played an
integral part in bringing two Provincial Championships to our club in
two successive years.
- Congratulations
to one of our junior teams: Taylor Mellor, Lyndsey Crossley, Ashley
O'Donnell and Ashley Smith who won the recent Elmira Junior 'spiel The
Mellor team is coached by Gary Crossley and sponsored by Tournament
Sports.

Congratulations to Kim Mervyn, Pat Babcock, Rosie Kirkpatrick and Brandey
Barton in the Business Ladies for their "perfect end".
- It was an all KW
Granite Club final at the Clarica Bonspiel 2004 as Mike Reinhardt defeated
Elaine Voisin in the final of the trophy event. Congratulations to Mike
and his team of Kai Schofield, Andrew Wiebe and Anthony Silvestro. Thanks
to all of our representative teams who made us extremely proud this
year. Other notables who made it all the way to Friday night are:

- Congratulations
to Bev Houston and Jean Richardson who along with Les Houston and Glenn
Pascoe were victorious at the Senior Winter Games held in Ayr December
15th and 16th. The team will go on to compete at Winterfest held in
Barrie on February 7th and 8th, 2005.

Competitions
- Our thanks to the
team of Peter Mellor, Carrie Mellor, Phil Tilker, and Arynn Bailey who
represented our club so well at the Provinical Mixed held April 14-18th
at the Guelph Curling Club. They went undefeated in the round-robin
only to lose a hard-fought final against Phil Daniel of the Sun Parlour
Curling Club.
- Congratulations
to Wendy Simpson and her team of Ilse Hoffman, Lorna Allen and Gladys
OHare on being the 2004 Ontario Master Womens Champions.
At the first ever Masters
Canadian competition your record of 3-4 was a fine showing
but we know youll be back next year to give it another shot. We
are so proud of your accomplishments this year!
- More congratulations
to Sue Laurin, Laura Davis-Cook, Vicki Leith and Erin Cook. They had
a great run to the Trophy Provinical that was held March 24th-March
27th at the Wingham Golf and Curling Club, where they finished with
an excellent record of 4-3. This followed won an A side win at both
the Trophy Zones Sun. February 8th at Ayr Curling Club and the Regionals
in Cookstown onFebruary 28th and 29th.

Other Events
- Congratulations
to Adrian Hofstetter and Brett Mellor who were on the team that won
the Westmount Junior Spiel.
- Three members from
the Granite Club, Len Croke, Norm Green and Cam Krueger, entered rinks
in the Ontario
Senior Winter Games held at the Ayr Curling Rink January 6 &
7. Sixteen teams entered the 2-day event. The bronze medal was awarded
to Cam Krueger's rink. Other team members were Ruth McLaren lead, Frank
Baron second, Joan Baron vice.
- A little rock team
from the K-W Granite Club consisting of David Harnock (skip), Frank
Wende (vice), Jessica Malinowski (2nd) and Molly Greenwood (lead) took
second place at the Elmira & District Curling Club Little Rock Bonspiel
on February 21st. All the team except the skip are first year curlers.
- Wendy Simpson had
a hot November as she won The Falfest Club Bonspiel along with her supporting
cast of Sharon Lidstone, Leola Aitkinhead and Meribeth Anderson/Joyce
Bell.
- Congratulations
to Derek Babcock and his team of Neil Bailey, Lew Ayers, and Jean Richardson.
They were victorious over Lloyd Kruschenske and his team from the Guelph
Country Club to win the Cup Event of the 2003 Clarica Bonspiel. The
finals were held at the Westmount Club on Saturday, November 21. For
